The four elements personified: with Fire’s defiant power, Air’s windswept energy, Water’s steady gaze and Earth’s calming stability. When working on these illustrations I wanted to include various symbols to further define their represented element. From the shapes that frame each character to the tattoos and patterning which adorns each figure. The pairs which sit opposite each other also face in opposing directions. Fire and Water face off against one another while Air tilts their head to the skies in comparison to Earth who nods down towards the land.
 
I believe we all have traits that can be associated with all the elements, though I also think we each are drawn to one or some over others. Whether that is because we feel a greater affinity with those elements or perhaps because we wish to embody more of the element of choice. Whichever is true for you, I encourage you to find harmony and balance within yourself. For example, encourage your passions with fire, but also remember the stability and comfort of Earth. We cannot safely explore new opportunities without some level of rooted stability. May these elementals bring you whatever you need and ultimately empower you to live your life in the truest way.
